The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Frustration Regarding Sizing Updates

Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.

Online Platforms Backlash

Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.

The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.

They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Stories

A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".

"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
